I highly recommend Glacier Fences for any fencing needs in the Youngstown area. From start to finish, the entire experience was exceptional. They completed my fence installation two days early and came in under budget, which is a rare and welcome surprise from any contractor. The quality of work is truly outstanding. While their initial bid wasn't the absolute lowest, it was clear that they offered the highest quality materials and labor compared to other quotes I received. Choosing Glacier Fences was an investment in a superior, long-lasting product. Beyond the excellent work, what truly sets this company apart is the owner's dedication to his family and the future of the business. He is building this company for his two sons, who work alongside him. Both sons were incredibly friendly, polite, and possessed a remarkable amount of knowledge themselves. The level of customer service was also noteworthy. The owner was completely flexible, even agreeing to a necessary delay in the fence construction to work around another contractor repairing my home—and he did so without any additional cost or complaint. I was working outside a few times while they were on-site and was genuinely touched by the positive interactions I overheard. Seeing a father work with his children with such care, and witnessing the clear love and respect they share, warmed my heart. By choosing Glacier Fences, you are not only getting the best quality fence I believe you can get in the Youngstown area, but you are directly supporting a multi-generational family business. After seeing how the owner works with his sons, I have no doubt they will succeed and excel in the future. I'm already looking forward to having them back next year to build a deck!
Lots of no-call/no-show, extremely poor workmanship, endless corner cutting, will leave trash for you to clean up, mud all over your driveway and will borrow your tools. Glacier literally only used two short lag screws attached to the end of a 2x4 to support an 8' gate. He also did not predrill the holes first which caused the board to split. This means it's basically not holding anything anymore. So there's ONE small screw holding all that weight when the gate is opened. The picture shows the damaged board and it shows how the board is already pulling away from the post. It's already failing. The only thing holding it together is two small nails and they're slipping out. I pointed this out to Glacier and asked if it was attached through the board and into the post and he said it was. Well, it did not look like it to me to I removed the screw from the damaged board and you can plainly see it's NOT long enough to reach the post. He lied to me and his crappy work is failing. One of the drop rods was installed at the intersection of my driveway flats. When the wind blows it doesn't hold the gate. This causes the latch to fail and a very heavy gate flies open and causes damage to the hinges and anything it the path of it's swing radius. Lots of nails were not driven in all the way and tons of others are sticking out on the other side ready to stab anyone that touches them accidentally. My 5 old puppy has already been injured from one. There's plenty more to tell but I think you get the point. I would highly recommend avoiding this company at all costs if I were you.
Greg and his team installed our beautiful black split rail fence. Thrilled with the results! He is a true fencing professional, who likes to wander outside the typical aluminum or wood board fence world to challenge himself with demanding projects. This was one of them! He spent the winter months painstakingly painting every inch of our wood rails black, in his driveway(!), and then in his garage, when the elements wouldn't co- operate. The wood was so absorbent he was forced to repeat this process numerous times, on 375 feet of split rails! He was determined it look good and that we would not have to repaint for the next five years. A consummate professional, which we appreciated very much... They added a black mesh around the entire inner perimeter to contain our two small dogs - which was the original sole purpose of us getting a fence. It provides a subtle, yet functional barrier for the landscaping we intend to add this summer. Great experience, only wish we had connected with him sooner!
